Materion Cyfoes Cyfreithiol

Overall aims and purpose

Mae'r Materion Cyfoes Cyfreithiol yn y Gymraeg yn fodiwl dewisol yn y rhaglen LLB. Nod y modiwl hwn yw cyflwyno materion cyfoes o fewn maes y gyfraith, a galluogi myfyrwyr i ddatblygu'r sgiliau angenrheidiol er mwyn iddynt allu dadansoddi'r materion yn feirniadol yn y Gymraeg. Mae'r modiwl yn canolbwyntio ar ddatblygu sgiliau gwahanol i'r arfer, wrth annog myfyrwyr i drafod testunau cyfreithiol mewn amryw o ffyrdd gwahanol, yn hytrach na mewn traethodau ac arholiadau. Wrth wneud hyn, fydd myfyrwyr yn gallu mynegi barn eu hunain yn hyderus, ac yn mynd ymlaen i fod yn gyfreithwyr sy'n meddwl yn feirniadol.


Current Legal Issues (in Welsh) is an optional module on the LLB programme. The aim of the module is to introduce current issues in law, and to enable students to develop the necessary skills to critically analyse the material in Welsh. The module focuses on developing different skills to the norm, by encouraging students to discuss legal topics in a variety of different ways, rather than in essays and exams. In doing so, students will be able to express their own opinions with confidence, going forward to become critical thinking lawyers.

Course content

Wrth ganolbwyntio ar faterion cyfoes, fydd y modiwl yn un cyffroes a hyblyg, gan ddibynnu ar y fath materion cyfreithiol sydd yn y newyddion. Fydd y modiwl yn cyflwyno myfyrwyr i destunau o fewn cyfraith ryngwladol a materion dramor, datganoli, a Brexit. Gall math destunau gynnwys annibyniaeth Cymru, morladron, hawliau dynol ac erthyliadau, llywyddiaeth Donald Trump a mwy.

Bydd y modiwl yn cynnwys elfen gref o ddatblygu sgiliau ymchwil gyfreithiol er mwyn cyflawni tasgau megis cyflwyno ar bwnc cyfoes, ysgrifennu blog, a chymryd rhan mewn dadl.


By focusing on current legal issues in the news, the module will be exciting and flexible. The module will introduce students to topics within international law and foreign relations, devolution and Brexit. Such topics could include, Wales' independence, piracy, human rights and abortion, Donald Trump's presidency, and more.

The module will contain a strong element of developing legal research skills to complete assignments such as presenting on a current topic, writing a blog and taking part in a debate.

  4. Canfod, adnabod a defnyddio ffynonellau perthnasol ar gyfer ymchwil gyfreithiol.

  5. Bod yn ymwybodol o wahanol gyd-destunau iaith (ar lafar ac yn ysgrifenedig) a'r modd y dylid eu defnyddio yn ôl y sefyllfa, y diben a'r gynulleidfa.

  6. Crynhoi deunydd cyfreithiol yn y Gymraeg.

Bydd y modiwl hwn yn cael ei ddysgu mewn seminarau dwy awr, un bob wythnos yn ystod semester 1 a 2. Yn y seminarau bydd yn ofynnol i’r myfyrwyr gyfrannu’n unigol ac mewn grwpiau o dan arweiniad y darlithydd gan wneud sylwadau a defnyddio egwyddorion a manylion y pwnc maent yn ei ddysgu. Bydd darlithwyr yn trafod a cyflwyno elfennau gwahanol o'r gyfraith, megis cyfraith rhyngwladol a datganoli, ac yn rhoi cyflwyniad i'r myfyrwyr ynglyn a'r prif agweddau ac ynglyn a'r termau Cymraeg cyffredin yn y meysydd hynny. Bydd myfyrwyr yn cael cyfle i drafod y meysydd hyn drwy'r Gymraeg gyda chefnogaeth y darlithydd.

  • Develop the ability to interpret legal rules and employ techniques of legal reasoning competently and efficiently in order to offer a range of solutions and conclusions to actual or hypothetical complex legal problems, all supported by relevant academic literature, jurisprudence and legislative research. Such solutions will be clearly communicated and presented
  • Develop the ability to analyse complex legal issues, set against the background of the political, social, economic or cultural contexts in which they may arise
  • Develop those skills which are necessary for scholarship and research in legal subjects, namely the ability to identify relevant primary and secondary legal sources and to retrieve accurate legal information using paper and electronic sources
