Overall aims and purpose

  1. Cyfnerthu elfennau gramadegol penodol.
  2. Meithrin sgiliau cyfieithu i ac o'r Ffrangeg ar lefel uwch.
  3. Meithrin sgiliau llafar a gwrando o safon uchel trwy wylio a gwrando ar amrywiaeth eang o ddeunyddiau.
  4. Hyrwyddo defnydd priodol o arddulliau a chyweiriau mewn gwaith ysgrifenedig a llafar.
  5. Datblygu a mireinio sgiliau ysgrifennu ar gyfer traethodau a thasgau aralleirio.

Bydd myfyrwyr sy'n dilyn y modiwl hwn yn gweithio tuag at gyrraedd lefel C1/C2 y Fframwaith Cyfeirio Ewropeaidd Cyffredin ar gyfer Ieithoedd (CEFR).

Course content

Nod y modiwl 40 credyd hwn sy'n para trwy'r flwyddyn yw hyrwyddo defnydd priodol o arddull a chywair ym mhob darn o waith ysgrifenedig a sicrhau bod myfyrwyr yn gallu ymdrin ag amrywiadau cywair a mynegiant idiomatig mewn modd hyderus a chywir. Trwy ddarllen testunau amrywiol a gweld strwythurau gramadegol cymhleth, disgwylir i fyfyrwyr feithrin sgiliau darllen ac ysgrifennu sy'n cyfateb i safon myfyrwyr yn eu blwyddyn olaf.

40-49%: Dangos medrusrwydd cyffredinol yn y sgiliau a brofir.

good

50-69%: Dangos ystod eang o eirfa, gwybodaeth o ramadeg a medru eu mynegi eu hunain yn y sgiliau a brofir.

excellent

70+%: Bydd yr ymgeiswyr gorau yn dangos gallu yn y sgiliau a brofir, sydd bron fel siaradwyr brodorol, gyda lefelau uchel o hyder a dawn wrth eu mynegi eu hunain. Byddant yn defnyddio¿r agweddau technegol ar yr iaith mewn ffordd sydd, fwy na heb, yn naturiol.

Learning outcomes

  1. Bydd y myfyrwyr wedi cael cysylltiad â'r prosesau, yr arferion a'r syniadau sydd ynghlwm â chyfieithu.

  2. Bydd y myfyrwyr yn dangos meistrolaeth soffistigedig o'r Ffrangeg wrth ysgrifennu traethodau, a hynny gan ddefnyddio cywair uwch a geirfa addas.

  3. Bydd gan y myfyrwyr ymwybyddiaeth ehangach o wahanol gyweiriau'r iaith a'r mathau o fynegiant.

  4. Bydd gan y myfyrwyr eirfa ehangach mewn perthynas â'r themâu a astudir.

  5. Bydd y myfyrwyr yn gallu cynnig cyfieithiadau sy'n fanwl-gywir ac yn dangos empathi, sef nid yn unig yn cyfleu ystyr y testun ond hefyd yn cyfleu ei naws.

  6. Bydd y myfyrwyr yn gallu cyflwyno ac amddiffyn cyflwyniadau llafar sy'n soffistigedig o ran cynnwys ac arddull, gan ddangos meistrolaeth gadarn o'r iaith briodol fel y byddai'n cael ei siarad gan siaradwyr brodorol.

  7. Bydd y myfyrwyr yn dangos lefelau uwch o ddealltwriaeth wrth wrando, gan ddangos y gallu i ddeall y berthynas rhwng yr iaith lafar a'r iaith ysgrifenedig.

Class test that involves writing a summary in French of a French language video clip. Summary will need to be based on topics listed on question paper.

500 word essay in French. Students will choose topic from list distributed in class and made available on Blackboard.

Test that invovles writing a summary in French of a French language news article.

1000 film or book review assignment. List of topics to choose from will be made available online.

ORAL Oral for review

Discussion based on book/film review assignment.

ORAL Oral exam

Exam will begin with oral presentation that will be followed by questions about the presentation topic, and then a more general discussion.

Exam involving translation of two texts: - One from French to English/Welsh - One from English/Welsh to French
