Overall aims and purpose

Pwrpas y modiwl hwn yw rhoi gwybodaeth a dealltwriaeth i fyfyrwyr o ddramâu cerdd Wagner, dull y cyfansoddwr o fynd ati i'w cyfansoddi, a'u cyd-destun hanesyddol a diwylliannol.

Course content

Ystyrir Wagner yn aml fel cyfansoddwr nodweddiadol y bedwaredd ganrif ar bymtheg: athrylith greadigol yr effeithiodd gwrthryfel ac athronyddiaethau newydd ar y fywyd ac a barodd i'w waith fod yn beryglus o chwyldroadol. Newidiodd ei operâu gwrs hanes cerdd, gan gyflwyno ystod o gysyniadau a thechnegau i'r ddisgyblaeth: Gesamtkunstwerk, drama-gerdd, leitmotif ac arloesi harmonig. Ond pa mor newydd oedd ei ddulliau mewn gwirionedd? Mae'r modiwl hwn yn archwilio cefndir campweithiau operatig aeddfed Wagner ac yn canolbwyntio ar y drefn ffurfiol sy'n eu nodweddu. Rhoddir sylw neilltuol i bedair rhan Der Ring des Nibelungen, ond cyfeirir hefyd at ddramâu-cerdd eraill, yn cynnwys Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg a Tristan und Isolde.
