Overview

Pan glywodd y Pab Urban III for Jerwsalem wedi cwympo ym mis Hydref 1187 i luoedd Saladin, yr arweinydd Islamaidd, bu’r braw yn ddigon i’w ladd. Dyma ddinas a oedd wedi bod yn nwylo Cristnogion y gorllewin er pan gipiwyd hi gan luoedd y Groesgad Gyntaf bron i ganrif ynghynt. Bydd y modiwl pwnc hwn yn edrych yn fanwl ar ddatblygiad a chanlyniadau’r Rhyfeloedd Sanctaidd a ymladdwyd yn ystod y cyfnod sy’n pontio’r digwyddiadau tyngedfennol hyn – cyfnod sydd yn parhau hyd heddiw i gynhyrfu teimladau ac i ddylanwadu ar agweddau. Ceir cyfle i edrych ar gymeriadau lliwgar ac adnabyddus fel Saladin a Rhisiart Lewgalon, yn ogystal â chyfle i fynd i’r afael â’r doreth o ffynonellau cynradd a gynhyrchwyd am ddigwyddiadau’r cyfnod. Rhoddir sylw hefyd i’r gymdeithas unigryw a ddatblygodd yn y Teyrnasoedd Croesgadol, ac ysgogir dealltwriaeth o gyd-destun diwylliannol, gwleidyddol, cymdeithasol a chrefyddol y cyfnod, a hynny drwy edrych ar ddigwyddiadau yn y Gorllewin yn ogystal ag yn y Dwyrain.

Bydd y modiwl yn edrych ar y themâu canlynol:

  1. Cyflwyniad: Gwreiddiau a Chefndir y Croesgadau; 2. Y Groesgad Gyntaf; 3. Gwreiddio a Goroesi yn y Dwyrain c.1097-c.1152; 4. Cymdeithas, Crefydd a Diwylliant yn y Teyrnasoedd Croesgadol; 5. Yr Urddau Milwrol; 6. Yr Ail Groesgad; 7. Ymgyrchu yn yr Aifft ac Ymddyrchafiad Nur ad-Din; 8. Rhyfel a Chestyll yn y Dwyrain Agos; 9. Baldwin IV a Buddugoliaethau Saladin; 10. Y Drydedd Groesgad a’i chanlyniadau

Ceir cyfle yn ystod y seminarau i archwilio’r themâu hyn ymhellach.
