School Of History, Law And Social Sciences
Module - Semester 2
20 credits
Module Organiser: Leona Huey
Overview

Mae'r modiwl hwn yn rhoi cyflwyniad i archaeoleg y Rhufeiniaid, y canoloesoedd cynnar a diweddarach Prydain ganoloesol c. OC43–1500 a darlith olaf ar y maes ôl-ganoloesol a chyfoes archeoleg. Mae pwyslais ar gyflwyno prif fathau o dystiolaeth a sut y caiff ei dehongli, gan gynnwys dadleuon mawr lle bo'n briodol. Bydd astudiaethau achos sylweddol, gan gynnwys darganfyddiadau newydd cael ei ddefnyddio i ddarlunio themâu penodol

Ar gyfer y Cyfnod Rhufeinig, bydd y modiwl yn archwilio'r goncwest ac archeoleg filwrol; yr cefn gwlad (filas ac aneddiadau eraill, ffermio ac echdynnu mwynau); trefi; crefft a'r economi; crefydd a chladdu; a diwedd Prydain Rufeinig. Am y cyfnod canoloesol cynnar, bydd y modiwl yn archwilio aneddiadau Eingl-sacsonaidd a mynwentydd paganaidd; anheddiad gwledig Eingl-sacsonaidd; tarddiad trefi Eingl-Sacsonaidd; y dröedigaeth a mynachlogydd ac eglwysi Eingl-Sacsonaidd; yr Effaith Llychlynnaidd; y Pictiaid ac archeoleg Lloegr Eingl-Sacsonaidd diweddar. Ar gyfer y canol oesoedd diweddarach cyfnod, bydd y modiwl yn archwilio archaeoleg y Goncwest Normanaidd a chestyll; gwledig anheddiad; anheddiad trefol; crefft a masnach; a mynachlogydd canoloesol diweddarach. Mae darlith ar archaeoleg ôl-ganoloesol a chyfoes yn cloi'r modiwl

Assessment Strategy

Bydd myfyrwyr rhagorol (A-, A, A+, A* [70au ac uwch]) yn dangos y cyrhaeddiad cadarn hwn ar draws yr holl feini prawf ynghyd â dyfnder gwybodaeth drawiadol iawn a/neu allu dadansoddol eithriadol graff.

Bydd myfyrwyr da (B-, B, B+ [60au]) yn dangos lefel gadarn o gyrhaeddiad yn yr holl feini prawf a restrwyd yn y paragraffau uchod.

Bydd myfyrwyr boddhaol (C-, C, C+ [50au]) yn dangos lefel uwch o wybodaeth, a’r gallu i gyflwyno dadl gydlynol sy’n cael ei chynnal gan dystiolaeth addas am nifer o agweddau ar y testun.

Bydd myfyrwyr trothwy (D- [40%]) yn dangos gwybodaeth sylfaenol o rannau o leiaf o’r maes perthnasol a byddant yn gwneud ymdrechion lled lwyddiannus o leiaf i lunio dadl sy’n cydnabod y ceir gwahaniaethau mewn dehongliad hanesyddol.

Learning Outcomes

  • Ceir ymwybyddiaeth o ddehongliadau archaeolegol gwahanol a'r gallu i farnu rhyngddynt trwy ddarllen cyfeiriedig a darlithoedd, a fydd yn aml yn canolbwyntio ar esbonio dadl archaeolegol. Bydd adborth ar draethodau hefyd yn meithrin ymwybyddiaeth o ddehongliadau gwahanol

  • Gwybodaeth eang o'r prif fathau o dystiolaeth archeolegol ar gyfer Rhufeinig, canoloesol a Prydain gyfoes ac enghreifftiau o ystod o safleoedd ac arteffactau arwyddocaol o'r cyfnodau yma.

  • Hyrwyddir sgiliau astudio sylfaenol trwy ymarfer, cyngor mewn seminarau ac ar deithiau maes, ac adborth ar draethodau. Dylai myfyrwyr hefyd gofio'r cyngor ar astudio yn y llawlyfr myfyrwyr a dylent deimlo'n rhydd i fynd at ddarlithwyr am gymorth ac arweiniad.

  • Hyrwyddir y gallu i ffurfio dadleuon archaeolegol a'u hategu â thystiolaeth trwy brofi dadleuon o'r fath wedi ei ymgysylltu mewn darllen a darlithoedd, gan ymarfer wrth gyfrannu at seminarau a thrwy adborth ar draethodau. Unwaith eto, dylai myfyrwyr ddarllen y llawlyfr a / neu fynd at aelodau o'r staff addysgu am gymorth.
