Overview
This module aims to provide you with protected time to complete continuous professional development activity to enhance your competitiveness in the sport and exercise science sector.
It also aims to introduce you to life skills that will enhance your resilience by maximising your physical health and psychological well-being.
4 x 2hr lectures: Lecture 1: The first move is always the hardest…. Lecture 2: Be kind to yourself! Lecture 3: Branding YOU Lecture 4: Bagging that dream job
3 x practicals: Practical 1 (2hrs): The health check MOT Workshop 2 (2 hrs): Resilience – beyond bouncing back? Practical 3 (8 hrs): “I’m a good team worker”
7 x 2hr guest lectures: Employability talks by content experts.

Reflective practice (10%):

Includes three referenced and structured reflection cycles of maximum one page each on the correct topics (one lecture, one practical, and your intervention).

Curriculum vitae (15%): Threshold Includes a correctly formatted CV with sections including: contact details; qualifications; work experience.
Good Also includes feedback on a first draft of your CV. Also describes how your CV could be developed during your degree.
Excellent Also clearly shows how feedback has been acted upon to formulate final CV. Also clearly shows how SMART goals will enhance employability in your dream or an example role.
Internet presence (30%): Threshold Includes an internet presence on at least one platform.

Intervention (45%): Threshold Includes a report with an intervention goal, an intervention description, and an evaluation of effectiveness.
Good Also includes a SMART goal, a referenced intervention description, and a validated outcome assessment.
Excellent Also includes a challenging but realistic goal, extensive referenced justification to support the intervention, and insightful interpretation of outcome assessment.
Learning Outcomes
- Upon successful completion of this module, students will be able to plan strategies to develop sport and exercise science skills, generic skills and behaviours required to work in their preferred profession.
- Upon successful completion of this module, students will be able to take responsibility for their own health and well-being, by evaluating available interventions, and consequently planning and implementing solutions, to change behaviour and enhance their physical and mental health.
