Overall aims and purpose
This module will enable the student to build upon the previously attained knowledge and develop a comprehensive understanding of and ability to critically analyse issues related to the development, implementation and evaluation of health and social care policy. Students will be able to develop a critical understanding of the influences on policy development including, devolved responsibilities, soical, cultural and global factors. This will enable students to critically apply their knowledge of heath and social care policy in relation to the concepts of health and well-being.
The content in this module will incude: attributes of health systems and health policy; policy development and implementation; evaluation of health policy; governance and political accountability; politics of health policy; co-producing health and well-being; influence of global policy on national policy; professional, media and public influences on policy development.
C- to C+
C- to C+ Grade: Students are able to demonstrate a good knowledge and undersanding of the issues related to policy development, evaluation and implementation with the ability to analyse key issues.
B- to B+ Grade: Students are able to demonstrate a very good knowledge and undersanding of the issues related to policy development, evaluation and implementation with the ability to critically analyse key issues.
A- to A+ Grade: Students are able to demonstrate an excellent knowledge and undersanding of the issues related to policy development, evaluation and implementation with the ability to critically analyse and provide some synthesis of key issues.
D- to D+ Grade: Students are able to demonstrate knowledge and undersanding of the issues related to policy development, evaluation and implementation.
Critically analyse the way policy is developed and implemented
Identify relevant stakeholders and their ideas, interests and influence on different health policies
Critically examine the impact and effectiveness of policy in securing health and well-being within the UK and Wales.

Teaching and Learning Strategy
Tutorial - on request for supervision support
Private study - for reading and assignment preparation.
Lectures - 10 hours ( 1 hours per week over 10 weeks)
Seminars - 10 hours (1 hour per week over 10 weeks).
