Overview
The application of an individual person-centred perspective to heath and well being
Empowerment for health and well-being / shared decision making / co-production in care in relation to working with people with a learning disability.
Promoting the health and wellbeing in relation to people with a learning disability in relation to bio/psycho/social areas of health (including sexuality and relationships)
Application of models of health promotion in relation to promoting the health of people with a learning disability
Health inequalities in relation to people with a learning disability.
Vulnerability in relation to the health and wellbeing of people with a learning disability.
Safeguarding across the lifespan and the role of the nurse in safeguarding.
Advocacy and the role of the nurse as the advocate.
Social prescribing.
Communication methods including augmentative communication.
Cultural and language sensitivity.
Interprofessional working and Teamwork.
Emotional kindness.
Fundamentals of care: e.g. diet, nutrition, fluid balance.
Role of the nurse in promoting and maintaining global health Millennium goals (WHO) across the lifespan.
Feasibility, development, implementation, de-implementation and evaluation of new and emerging nursing roles and services through awareness of political influences, finance and resources in business cases for change.
