Overall aims and purpose

Er gwaetha'r ffaith fod gan ein cymdeithas ystod eang o adnoddau fel cyfoeth, statws a phŵer, rydym yn byw mewn cymdeithas anghyfartal iawn, wedi'i nodweddu gan anghydraddoldeb a rhaniad cymdeithasol. Mae'r modiwl hwn yn ymchwilio i natur a chanlyniadau rhaniadau cymdeithasol mewn cymdeithasau.

Mae rhaniadau cymdeithasol yn cyfeirio at y modd y mae’r boblogaeth o fewn cymdeithas yn cael eu rhannu i gategorïau a’u trin yn wahanol i'w gilydd (Anthias, 1999). Gall y categorïau hyn o raniadau olygu bod rhai unigolion o fewn cymdeithas yn profi manteision cymdeithasol, tra bod eraill yn profi anfanteision, oll yn seiliedig ar eu nodweddion personol nhw efo unigolion neu aelodau o grŵp penodol. Effaith hyn yn y pendraw yw bod y system hon yn arwain ar hierarchaeth gymdeithasol (Bottero, 2005).

Bydd y modiwl yn cychwyn drwy ystyried categorïau haeniad cymdeithasol, gan gynnwys dosbarth cymdeithasol, rhyw ac ethnigrwydd, cyn canolbwyntio ar feysydd cyfoes cymdeithasegol fel oedran, rhywioldeb, mynegiant rhyw, anabledd, crefydd, cenedl ac ardal ddaearyddol. Anogir myfyrwyr i ddatblygu ymwybyddiaeth o sut mae rhaniadau cymdeithasol yn treiddio trwy'r drefn gymdeithasol yn gyhoeddus ac yn breifat, gan arwain at wahaniaethu ac anfantais.

Course content

Bydd y modiwl hwn yn cynnwys y pynciau canlynol: Cyflwyniad i raniadau cymdeithasol, Dosbarth Cymdeithasol, Rhyw, Ethnigrwydd, Oed, Rhywioldeb, Mynegiant Rhyw, Anabledd, Crefydd, Cenedl a Daearyddiaeth. Bydd ffocws hefyd ar feysydd polisi cymdeithasol tai, iechyd, trosedd, addysg a chyflogaeth.
