Overview
The module offers students an opportunity to work on a topic of their own choosing. The topic may be interdisciplinary in nature and will draw on one or both of the disciplines represented in the degree. The research undertaken will be based on secondary sources and will demonstrate an awareness of different methodological approaches and the ability to locate, select and synthesise information from a variety of sources.
Assessment Strategy
-threshold -(D- to D+) Students demonstrate a threshold level of knowledge and understanding of the subject matter but have poor introduction/abstract with very limited use and understanding of theoretical sources or academic ideas and ethics Poor conclusion overall which impacts on content and overall coherence delivered in the oral presentation .
-good -(C- to C+) Good students show a competent grasp of the dissertation topic and related issues. Reasonable attempts are made to analyse and reflect on the subject matter . Shows understanding of ethical issues and small number of theories. The work showing glimpses of insightful and reflective observations and makes good attempt to related academic ideas to work place situations and this is reflected in the content of the oral presentation. The overall work shows that there is scope for more analysis and understanding. (B- to B+) Very good students show competent knowledge and understanding of the subject matter. Work is analytical in a number of areas and demonstrates a critical, understanding of academic theories and ideas. The overall work is insightful and shows some originality and this is observed in the quality and presentation of the oral work.
-excellent -(A - and above) Excellent students will demonstrate a critical grasp of the subject. The work is proficiently executed demonstrating high levels of analytical and reflective skills and knowledgeable understanding of a wide range of academic ideas and the synthesis of theory and practice. The overall work demonstrates creative thinking, flair and originality which is also carried through in the oral presentation to full impact.

- Formulate a research question and develop a methodology for attempting to solve that question.
