20.000 Credits or 10.000 ECTS Credits

Semester 1

Organiser: Dr Steffan Thomas

Overall aims and purpose

Mae'r modiwl hwn yn cyflwyno myfyrwyr i syniadau allweddol ac ysgolheictod cyfredol ynghylch y berthynas rhwng technoleg gwybodaeth a chyfathrebu. Myfyrwyr yn ystyried be ydy wybodaeth, sut mae'n cael ei chreu, ei mesur, ei gwerthfawrogi, ei phrynu, eu gwerthu, eu darparu, rhannu a chyfathrebu; hefyd mae'n edrych at yr effaith mai digidol un cael ar wybodaeth. Bydd y modiwl yn paratoi myfyrwyr ar gyfer astudiaeth bellach ym mlynyddoedd 2 a 3 yn y cyfryngau newydd, dylunio rhyngweithiol a chyfathrebu, astudiaethau cyfryngau ac astudiaethau gêm.

The module introduces students to key ideas and current scholarship regarding the relationships between information, technology, and communication. Students consider what information is, how it is crafted, measured, valued, bought, sold, delivered, shared and communicated as well as the impact of the digital on information. The module will prepare students for further study in years 2 and 3 in new media, interactive design and communication, media studies and game studies.

Course content

Mae myfyrwyr yn ymgysylltu â modelau ar gyfer deall cysyniadau sy'n cynnwys data, patrwm, tebygrwydd o wahaniaethau, gwybodaeth, strwythur, dylunio, a chyfathrebu. Myfyrwyr yn archwilio hanes a thechnoleg y rhyngrwyd a'r we, y modelau cyfathrebu sydd wedi tyfu oddi wrthynt, a'r berthynas rhwng y sianelau a chynhyrchu, cyflwyno, rhannu a gwerthu gwybodaeth. Mae'r modiwl yn cynnwys elfen ymarferol y myfyrwyr yn ymgysylltu ag offer a thechnolegau gwybodaeth am ddylunio / cyflwyniad. Mae hyn yn cynnwys cefndir y prif fathau o feddalwedd gwybodaeth sydd ar gael a'r egwyddorion sy'n llywio eu dyluniad.

The module looks includes a study of information theory in which students engage models for understanding concepts that include data, pattern, similarity of differences, information, structure, design, and communication. Students also explore the history and technology of the internet and the web, the communication models that have grown from them, and the relationship between these channels and the production, delivery, sharing and sale of information. The model includes a practical element in which students work with various software tools to engage with tools and technologies for information design/presentation; this includes background to the main types of information software available and some of the principles that inform them.

Assessment Criteria

good

C- i C+: Da: Mae’r radd hon yn dangos cymhwyster drwyddo draw, gyda thystiolaeth o lefelau da o gyflawniad yn y rhan fwyaf o Ddeilliannau Dysgu, os nad y cyfan. Ceir cydlyniad rhwng gweithiau ysgrifenedig gorffenedig, prosesau gweithio a gweithgarwch ymchwil.

B- i B+: Da Iawn: Er mwyn cael y radd hon, bydd myfyrwyr wedi dangos gallu yn y rhan fwyaf o’r Deilliannau Dysgu, os nad y cyfan ohonynt, a bydd wedi dangos rhagoriaeth mewn o leiaf un. Dylai gwaith ysgrifenedig fod o safon arbennig, bron yn barod i’w gyhoeddi, ac wedi’i gefnogi gan astudiaeth bellach gysylltiedig. Dylid cael digon o dystiolaeth o feddwl annibynnol, lefelau da o ysgogiad a meithrin amrywiaeth eang o sgiliau pwnc-benodol a throsglwyddadwy. Dylai’r potensial i ddilyn astudiaethau i lefel ymchwil uwch fod yn amlwg.

(C) Good
