Clearing Stories

Jessica Nixon - Biomedical Science, Year 2

Why did you choose your course?

I liked the choice and variety of modules as well as the fact that we get the chance to visit hospitals and laboratories.

Why did you choose Bangor?

Great location, friendly people and lots to do, as well as a great reputation and lots of first class lecturers and teaching facilities.

Tell us about your Clearing experience?

The administration side of it was really easy and everyone was really helpful! They made the whole registration process simple and stress free as well as ensuring I got the accommodation that I wanted.

What’s your favourite memory of your course so far?

Being able to use investigative laboratory techniques and figure out what sample of tissue we had been given during our biomedical practical module. This was the moment in the course that brought everything together for me, using different experiences and knowledge from other modules and bringing them together to figure out the solution.

What are your plans for the future?

Hopefully to go on to do a post graduate medicine course.

What do you think about the location of Bangor?

A great mix of being in the mountains but also being able to visit the beach (when the weather is nice), definitely a student town- but this makes it really friendly and a good night out!

What clubs or societies do you belong to?

I am captain of the women's cricket team as well as being a course rep.

Elias Araye - BMed Sci - Year 3

Why did you choose your course?

The course opens lots of opportunities for career preparation.

What’s your favourite memory of your course so far?

I have thoroughly enjoyed the course especially the Anatomy Wet labs.

What do you think about the location of Bangor?

From all the places I have visited I am now living in an amazing city surrounded by mountains and sea it is somewhat like a holiday destination.

Tell us about your Clearing experience?

My clearing experience was very smooth and I really couldn't have asked for anything else.

What are your plans for the future?

I am hoping to follow a career in medicine.

Christiana Olaide-Kolapo - Biomedical Science - Year 2

Why did you choose your course?

It was the closest option for me for the course I didn't get into.

Why did you choose Bangor?

I went through all the Universities in the UK that still had space in their Biomedical Science course and I chose Bangor because it's accredited by the IBMS, we get actual clinical and scientific staff from the hospitals to lecture sometimes and Bangor is the closest place to home (Ireland).

Tell us about your Clearing experience?

My clearing experience was quite good, through the UCAS website I was able to find my course, call the university and apply online. They were also very quick to get back to me.

What’s your favourite memory of your course so far?

My favorite memory of my course is when in first semester we had to make do an audio-visual assignment for one of our modules, it was quite fun to make but also technical.

What are your plans for the future?

After my degree, I hope to do graduate medicine.

What do you think about the location of Bangor?

I love the location of Bangor it has the best scenery and there's even more beautiful scenery in surrounding cities.

What clubs or societies do you belong to?

Women's basketball, Dance Society, Afro-Caribbean society and Christian Society
