Overall aims and purpose
The aim of this course is to provide an introduction to business, management and organisations. Organisations are key to the way in which we organise society, and a study of organisations is central to developing an understanding not only of business and management, but of many other aspects of our lives. The course explores the context of business, the organisation of work and nature of management.
Course content
Topics may include but will not be limited to:
Explaining Organisational Behaviour, The Business Environment, Organisational Culture, Personality, Employability Skills, Enterpreneurship and Corporate entrepreneurshp/Intrapreneurship, Learning and innovation in organisations, Motivation, Technology, Communication, Group Structure and Individuals in Groups, Teamworking, Elements of Structure, Organisation Design, Organisational Architecture and Strategy, Leadership, Change and Conflict.
Assessment Criteria
C- to C+
C- to C+ (50-59%): Much of the relevant information and skills mostly accurately deployed. Adequate grasp of theoretical/conceptual/practical elements. Fair integration of theory/practice/information in the pursuit of the assessed work's objectives. Some evidence of the use of creative and reflective skills.

B- to B+ (60-69%): Most of the relevant information accurately deployed. Good grasp of theoretical/conceptual/practical elements. Good integration of theory/practice/information in pursuit of the assessed work's objectives. Evidence of the use of creative and reflective skills.
excellent
A- to A* (70%): + An outstanding performance, exceptionally able. The relevant information accurately deployed. Excellent grasp of theoretical/conceptual/practice elements. Good integration of theory/practice/information in pursuit of the assessed work's objectives. Strong evidence of the use of creative and reflective skills.
threshold
C- to D+ (40-49%): No major omissions or inaccuracies in the deployment of information/skills. Some grasp of theoretical/conceptual/practical elements. Integration of theory/practice/information present intermittently in pursuit of the assessed work's objectives.
