Overall aims and purpose

Bydd y modiwl hwn yn cynnig cyflwyniad i ddetholiad o ddamcaniaethau beirniadol ac i egwyddorion beirniadaeth lenyddol. Rhoddir y prif bwyslais ar agweddau ymarferol beirniadaeth lenyddol. Gwneir hyn drwy gyfres o astudiaethau manwl ar gerddi a darnau rhyddiaith unigol. Gweithiau o’r ugeinfed ganrif yw’r mwyafrif o’r darnau a drafodir, ond byddir hefyd yn ymdrin yn feirniadol ag ambell awdl a chywydd o’r Oesoedd Canol, a cherddi o’r bedwaredd ganrif ar bymtheg. Ystyrir swyddogaeth beirniadaeth lenyddol mewn gwahanol gyd-destunau – cystadlaethau eisteddfodol a chyfieithu llenyddol, er enghraifft. Er goleuo’r pwnc ymhellach, ymdrinnir â nifer o’r cerddi a’r darnau rhyddiaith Cymraeg ochr yn ochr â gweithiau Saesneg ac enghreifftiau o lenyddiaethau eraill (mewn cyfieithiad).

Course content

Bydd y modiwl hwn yn cynnig cyflwyniad i ddetholiad o ddamcaniaethau beirniadol ac i egwyddorion beirniadaeth lenyddol. Rhoddir y prif bwyslais ar agweddau ymarferol beirniadaeth lenyddol. Gwneir hyn drwy gyfres o astudiaethau manwl ar gerddi a darnau rhyddiaith unigol. Gweithiau o’r ugeinfed ganrif yw’r mwyafrif o’r darnau a drafodir, ond byddir hefyd yn ymdrin yn feirniadol ag ambell awdl a chywydd o’r Oesoedd Canol, a cherddi o’r bedwaredd ganrif ar bymtheg. Ystyrir swyddogaeth beirniadaeth lenyddol mewn gwahanol gyd-destunau – cystadlaethau eisteddfodol a chyfieithu llenyddol, er enghraifft.   1. Asesu'r traddodiad beirniadol Cymraeg yng nghyd-destun ehangach damcaniaethu beirniadol y dwthwn hwn.

  2. Trafod defnyddioldeb gwahanol syniadau beirniadol fel ffyrdd o ddehongli testunau Cymraeg penodol.

  3. Dadansoddi testunau Cymraeg o wahanol gyfnodau gan ddangos gwybodaeth am eu cefndir hanesyddol a'u nodweddion mydryddol, ieithyddol a delweddol.

  4. Cyfoethogi eu dealltwriaeth o'r testunau Cymraeg drwy gymharu'r gweithiau hyn yn ddadlennol ag enghreifftiau perthnasol o lenyddiaeth eraill.
