Overview

Yn y modiwl hwn astudir detholiad cynrychioliadol o gerddi Dafydd ap Gwilym er mwyn i'r myfyriwr fedru deall a gwerthfawrogi nid yn unig werthoedd esthetaidd y llenyddiaeth ond hefyd ei lleoliad yn hanes diwylliannol Cymru ac Ewrop. Edrychir hefyd ar agweddau ar hanes cymdeithasol cyfnod Dafydd i gael cyfoethogi dealltwriaeth o gyd-destunau'r canu unigryw hwn.

Bydd y cwrs yn dechrau gyda darlithoedd a fydd (a) yn croniclo'r hyn sy'n hysbys am fywyd Dafydd, a (b) yn dangos fel y trosglwyddwyd ac y golygwyd y farddoniaeth sy'n dwyn ei enw. Eir ati wedyn i ddarllen tua phymtheg o'i gerddi, a bydd hynny'n gosod sylfaen ar gyfer trafodaethau ar faterion megis ei berthynas â'r traddodiad barddol brodorol a'r glêr ‘isradd', ei berthynas â chanu cyfandirol, ynghyd â thrafodaethau a fydd yn ymwneud â themâu amlycaf ei ganu.
