Overall aims and purpose

Ar ôl cwblhau’r modiwl yn llwyddiannus bydd myfyrwyr yn gallu:

  • Cymhwyso’r wybodaeth ieithyddol a gramadegol a enillwyd at eu gwaith eu hunain yn gyffredinol
  • Adnabod a dehongli’r patrymau ieithyddol sy’n ymffurfio wrth drosi testun o’r naill iaith i’r llall
  • Defnyddio’r cywair a’r arddull gywir wrth gyfieithu yn ôl gofynion y cyd-destun
  • Manteisio’n feirniadol ar y profiad a enillwyd wrth gyfieithu rhychwant eang o destunau mewn gwahanol ffyrdd
  • Cynhyrchu gwaith a fydd yn raenus a chywir o ran mynegiant.

Course content

Bydd y modiwl yn rhoi hyfforddiant i gyfieithu gwahanol fathau o destunau, yn bennaf o’r Saesneg i’r Gymraeg. Canolbwyntir ar gyfieithu darnau o ryddiaith ffeithiol: rhestrau o gyfarwyddiadau, erthyglau papur newydd, cofnodion cyfarfodydd ac ati. Rhoddir sylw arbennig i gyfieithu dogfennau swyddogol o bob math, gan roi sylw i ofynion proffesiynol y grefft.

Dylai'r gwaith cyfieithu ddangos cynefindra â'r pynciau a'r egwyddorion a drafodir yn y seminarau, ynghyd â gafael ar gystrawen a theithi'r Gymraeg ac ar dermau technegol a geirfa'r maes arbennig hwn. Dylai myfyrwyr ddangos gwybodaeth am y patrymau cyffredinol sy'n ymffurfio yn y broses o gyfieithu a hefyd am ofynion gwahanol destunau a chyd-destunau o ran arddull a chywair.

Dylai'r gwaith cyfieithu ddangos gwybodaeth dda am yr egwyddorion ieithyddol y tynnir sylw atynt yn y seminarau, yn ogystal â gafael dda ar ramadeg y Gymraeg ac ar dermau technegol a geirfa'r maes arbennig hwn. Dylai myfyrwyr ddangos dealltwriaeth dda o'r modd y gellir addasu a theilwra cyfieithiad ar gyfer cyd-destun arbennig, yn ogystal â gafael dda ar sut y gellir amrywio cystawennau a phatrymau penodol er sicrhau cyfieithiad graenus ac argyhoeddiadol.

Dylai'r gwaith cyfieithu ddangos gallu datblygedig i drin yr egwyddorion, y patrymau a'r syniadau a drafodir yn y seminarau, ynghyd â gafael gadarn ar deithi'r Gymraeg. Dylai hefyd ddangos gwybodaeth fanwl am ryngberthynas y Gymraeg a'r Saesneg ac am y modd y gellir defnyddio'r ddealltwriaeth o batrymau'r ddwy iaith er sicrhau cyfieithiad sy'n tystio i gyfoeth adnoddau'r Gymraeg mewn meysydd megis busnes a gwyddoniaeth yn ogystal â'r celfyddydau. Dylai'r gwaith ddangos gallu datblygedig i amrywio cyweiriau ac arddulliau yn ôl y gofyn.
