Overall aims and purpose

Bydd y modiwl hwn yn cynnig cyflwyniad i hanes llenyddiaeth Gymraeg rhwng 1500 a 1740. Rhoddir sylw i gyd-destun cymdeithasol llenyddiaeth Gymraeg y cyfnod, gan drafod effaith datblygiadau ym myd crefydd, addysg a thechnoleg ar draddodiad llenyddol Cymru. Edrychir ar y berthynas rhwng trosglwyddiad llafar, y llawysgrif a’r llyfr gan drafod effaith y gwahanol gyfryngau hyn ar hanes llên. Ystyrir y modd y mae llenyddiaeth yn adlewyrchu hunaniaeth Gymreig y cyfnod gan roi sylw arbennig i’r dadleuon ynghylch (ffug) hanes y Cymry. Trwy drafod mudiadau megis Dyneiddiaeth a Phrotestaniaeth ceir archwilio’r berthynas rhwng diwylliant Cymru a datblygiadau mewn gwledydd eraill. Canolbwyntir ar nifer o feirdd a llenorion unigol, gan gynnwys Morgan Llwyd ac Ellis Wynne..

Course content

Bydd y modiwl hwn yn cynnig cyflwyniad i hanes llenyddiaeth Gymraeg rhwng 1500 a 1740. Rhoddir sylw i gyd-destun cymdeithasol llenyddiaeth Gymraeg y cyfnod, gan drafod effaith datblygiadau ym myd crefydd, addysg a thechnoleg ar draddodiad llenyddol Cymru. Edrychir ar y berthynas rhwng trosglwyddiad llafar, y llawysgrif a’r llyfr gan drafod effaith y gwahanol gyfryngau hyn ar hanes llên. Ystyrir y modd y mae llenyddiaeth yn adlewyrchu hunaniaeth Gymreig y cyfnod gan roi sylw arbennig i’r dadleuon ynghylch (ffug) hanes y Cymry. Trwy drafod mudiadau megis Dyneiddiaeth a Phrotestaniaeth ceir archwilio’r berthynas rhwng diwylliant Cymru a datblygiadau mewn gwledydd eraill. Canolbwyntir ar nifer o feirdd a llenorion unigol, gan gynnwys Morgan Llwyd ac Ellis Wynne.
