Module DXC-2018:
Geomorffoleg Afonol

Module Facts

Run by School of Natural Sciences

20.000 Credits or 10.000 ECTS Credits

Semester 1

Organiser: Dr Paula Roberts

Overall aims and purpose

Basnau afon yw’r system naturiol sylfaenol yn y mwyafrif o brosesau hydrolegol a’r uned ofodol bennaf o fewn hydroleg a geomorffoleg. Amcan y modiwl yw datblygu dealltwriaeth myfyrwyr o reolyddion, dynameg a chysylltiadau rhwng y llifoedd a ffurfiau a welir yn y system ffisegol allweddol hon drwy fframwaith damcaniaethol. Rhennir y modiwl yn ddwy ran naturiol: y llethrau a’r sianeli. Yn y rhan gyntaf mae’r modiwl yn archwilio patrymau a rheolyddion llif dŵr a gwaddodion drwy ac ar draws llethrau, gan ganolbwyntio yn bennaf ar greu llif trostir a symud gwaddodion. Mae ail ran y modiwl yn archwilio’r prosesau sydd yn rheoli ffurf ac esblygiad afonydd, sydd yn cael ei yrru gan drosglwyddiad gwaddodion o’r llethrau a ffiniau’r sianel ac effaith y prosesau yma ar reolaeth afonol. Fe drafodir y themâu canlynol yn ystod darlithoedd y modiwl. - Egwyddorion geomorffoleg, cyfundrefnau gweithgarwch, trothwyon. - Mas-symudiad ac erydiad ar lethrau - Prosesau blaen-nentydd a datblygiad rhwydweithiau. - Prosesau'r sianel: dŵr a gwaddod. - Geometreg hydrolig. - Erydiad glan a gwely. - Patrymau sianel a chyfraddau newid. - Rheoli Sianeli

Course content

Amcan y modiwl yma yw cyflwyno myfyrwyr i’r prosesau allweddol sydd yn rheoli symudiad dŵr a gwaddodion drwy’r basn afon dros amrywiaeth o raddfeydd amserol a gofodol. Gellir deal y symudiadau yma fel rheolydd ac fel sgil-effaith o forffoleg y basn, ac fe archwilir y rhyngweithiad sensitif yma yng nghyd-destun y basn cyfan a pharthau annatod y llethr a’r sianel.

Assessment Criteria

threshold

Trothwy. Yn dangos gwybodaeth dderbyniol o brif nodweddion geomorffoleg afonol. Defnyddio dulliau sylfaenol i ddadansoddi gwybodaeth ac yn defnyddio enghreifftiau addas i egluro newidiadau yn y sianeli. Yn egluro yn glir, yn defnyddio strwythurau addas. Fe ddisgwylir ychydig o ddadansoddi critigol ar lefel sylfaenol.

good

Da. Yn dangos dealltwriaeth drwyadl o brif nodweddion geomorffoleg afonol gyda thystiolaeth o ddarllen ac ymwybyddiaeth o ddatblygiadau newydd. Yn egluro materion traws disgyblaethol yn dda gyda gwerthfawrogiad o’r elfennau o amser a graddfa mewn sustemau afonol. Gwerthusiad critigol trwyadl a defnydd o astudiaethau achos, safon uchel o gyflwyno.

excellent

Rhagorol. Dealltwriaeth glir, eang a thrwyadl o geomorffoleg afonol. Tystiolaeth o ddarllen cefndirol ac ymwybyddiaeth o ddatblygiadau cyfredol ar lefelau o amser a graddfa. Ymwybodol o effeithiau traws disgyblaethol o nodweddion afonol. Gwerthusiad critigol gyda dadleuon perthnasol. Cyflwyniad ardderchog ac ysgrifennu o safon.

Learning outcomes

  1. Disgrifio prosesau a ffurfiau allweddol y system afonol.

  2. Gwerthuso’r dulliau sydd ar gael i fonitro prosesau’r basn.

  3. Esbonio strwythur rhwydweithiau traenio, morffoleg a deinameg sianeli.

  4. Gwerthuso strategaethau a phroblemau rheolaeth afonol
