  2. Galluogi myfyrwyr i ddatblygu dealltwriaeth strwythuredig a chyfannol o'r parau iaith a ddewiswyd ganddynt;
  3. Cynnig i fyfyrwyr arweiniad theoretig ar sail ymarfer i gyfieithu;
  4. Annog myfyrwyr i ymdrin â chyfieithu mewn modd systematig a'u galluogi i wneud dewisiadau ar sail gwybodaeth yn ystod y broses gyfieithu.

Course content

Bwriad y modiwl hwn yw datblygu ac atgyfnerthu ymhellach sgiliau cyfieithu a enillwyd gan fyfyrwyr yn eu cyrsiau iaith. Trwy ystyried cyfieithu fel proses, mae'n craffu ar gyfieithu ar wahanol lefelau testunol, o lefel geiriau a gramadeg, i'r lefel destunol a phragmataidd sy'n ystyried cydlyniad, cywair a mathau o destun. Mae'n rhoi fframwaith i'r myfyrwyr i ystyried yr anawsterau cyfieithu yn y parau iaith a ddewiswyd ganddynt ac i ymchwilio i strategaethau a'u goblygiadau.

Darllen hanfodol

Baker, Mona. In Other Words: A Coursebook on Translation, 2nd edition (London: Routledge, 2011). Hatim, Basil and Munday, Jeremy. Translation: an Advanced Resource Book (London: Routledge, 2004).

Bydd gofyn hefyd i fyfyrwyr gael adnoddau ieithyddol penodol megis geiriaduron dwyieithog ac uniaith.

Assessment Criteria

excellent

A- - A*: Y cyfieithu: Ni ellir canfod unrhyw broblemau dealltwriaeth. Yn dangos y gallu i drin y Saesneg o ran arddull. Defnyddir cywair priodol yn gyson drwy'r darn. Dylai roi'r argraff na ellir gwella ar y cyfieithiad. Y sylwebaeth (gan gynnwys yr aseiniad cyflwyno): Dull gwreiddiol a meddylgar o gyfieithu'r deunydd ffynhonnell. Wedi ei strwythuro’n dda iawn ac wedi ei ysgrifennu'n eglur ac yn fanwl gywir. Yn cynnig rhesymau a chyfiawnhad da iawn dros ddewisiadau a phenderfyniadau. Asesu'r testun ffynhonnell mewn ffordd wreiddiol a dadansoddol.

threshold

D- - D+: Cyfieithu: Mae dealltwriaeth o'r eirfa a'r gystrawen yn dangos rhai diffygion eithaf amlwg sydd yn ei gwneud yn anodd deall. Dealltwriaeth gyffredinol hynod sylfaenol o'r deunydd ffynhonnell. Saesneg lletchwith; mae cyfieithu llythrennol yn cuddio'r ystyr. Fawr ddim ymdrech i adlewyrchu nodweddion arddull y gwreiddiol. Y sylwebaeth (gan gynnwys yr aseiniad cyflwyno): Ymdriniaeth sylfaenol iawn. Mae'r syniadau'n ddi-drefn, mae'r wybodaeth a'r ddealltwriaeth o'r deunydd ffynhonnell a'r iaith darged yn annigonol. Cyflwyniad blêr o bosib a fawr ddim defnydd o'r adnoddau sydd ar gael. Fawr ddim enghreifftiau priodol o anawsterau ac atebion.

good

C- - B+: Y cyfieithu: Dealltwriaeth lawn o'r deunydd ffynhonnell. Yr arddull Saesneg yn glir ac yn gryno. Gallai fod rhai ymadroddion rhyfedd ond cynigir rhai atebion sensitif hefyd. Y sylwebaeth (gan gynnwys yr aseiniad cyflwyno): Cyflwyniad cadarn o amcanion ac ystyriaethau'r testun ffynhonnell o fewn cyd-destun; trafodaeth fedrus a sensitif ar natur a statws y testun ffynhonnell a'r iaith darged; disgrifiad eglur o'r rhesymau dros y dewisiadau a'r penderfyniadau. Defnydd medrus o'r adnoddau sydd ar gael.

Learning outcomes

  1. Cydnabod bod cyfieithu'n digwydd mewn perthynas â swyddogaethau cyfathrebu, mhethau o destun a nodweddion macro a microdestunol cysylltiedig.

  2. Dangos dealltwriaeth o wahanol fathau o anawsterau wrth gyfieithu.

  3. Defnyddio strategaethau cyfieithu systematig ac effeithiol.
