Overview
The module explores key practices in relation to infection prevention and control, and critically appraises best practice evidence.
Course content may include the following: - Infection risks presented by invasive devices and extremes of age - Best practices in relation to the management of invasive devices - Mitigating the risks of infection which arise from extremes of age
This builds upon the core learning in Infection Prevention Microcredit 1.

Assessment Strategy
Students at level 7 will have their work assessed based on the following criteria:
50% - 59% Pass - Students demonstrate a satisfactory level of knowledge, understanding and strategies to introduce sustainable practices in their setting.
60% - 69% Merit - Students demonstrate a good level of knowledge, understanding and strategies to introduce sustainable practices in their setting.
70% + Distinction - Students demonstrate an excellent level of knowledge, understanding and strategies to introduce sustainable practices in their setting
Learning Outcomes
- Demonstrate critical reflective skills to show learning and development in own role.
- Analyse infection risks arising from the use of invasive devices and extremes of age.
- Critically appraise clinical practices which reduce the risk of infection arising from use of invasive devices and extremes of age.
- Display a mastery in literature searching skills, show ability to access and critically appraise literature pertaining to infection prevention practices relating to the use of invasive devices.

Students will submit blogs during weeks 2-5 as they develop their critical thinking and learning. These will form the basis for 2 assessed blogs of 500-650 words which will be submitted by the end of the module in order to meet the module learning outcomes.
