Overall aims and purpose

Nod y modiwl hwn yw helpu myfyrwyr i ddatblygu sgiliau astudio annibynnol a sgiliau ymchwil trwy ysgrifennu darn estynedig o waith yn seiliedig ar ymchwil ar bwnc cyfreithiol mewn maes penodol, dan oruchwyliaeth aelod unigol o staff. Bydd myfyrwyr yn adeiladu ar sgiliau allweddol a gafwyd eisoes mewn blynyddoedd blaenorol, ac yn dysgu sut i lunio a phrofi rhagdybiaeth, datblygu dadleuon rhesymegol a chyflwyno'r syniadau yma'n ysgrifenedig ac ar lafar.

Mae'r modiwl hwn yn herio myfyrwyr i ymarfer hunanddisgyblaeth ac astudrwydd wrth gynnal dadansoddiad manwl o'r deunydd ymchwil, ac i gyfleu sgiliau dadansoddi beirniadol da wrth ysgrifennu'r traethawd. Gall traethawd sylweddol fod yn arddangosiad clir i ddarpar gyflogwyr o allu academaidd a phwerau dadansoddi a mynegiant myfyriwr.

Course content

Bydd dewis cychwynnol y myfyriwr o bwnc traethawd hir yn cael ei drefnu cyn dechrau'r modiwl a bydd y pynciau dan sylw yn amrywiol. Mae gweithdai yn cyflwyno'r modiwl, ac yn egluro prosesau pwysig fel llunio rhagdybiaeth, nodau ac amcanion, a chwestiynau ymchwil; pwysigrwydd strwythur da; a llunio dadleuon rhesymegol. Gyda'r gefnogaeth hon yn cael ei darparu ar ddechrau'r modiwl, bydd myfyrwyr fel arall yn gweithio'n annibynnol ond gyda chefnogaeth goruchwyliwr a fydd yn gyffredinol yn ymwybodol o, ac yn aml yn arbenigwr ym maes pwnc traethawd hir y myfyrwyr. Ceir gweithdai eraill ar adegau priodol dros y flwyddyn, yn ymdrin a pynciau megis llunio pennod casgliadau a sgiliau cyflwyno.

Bydd pedair tiwtorial ffurfiol efo'r goruchwyliwr yn ystod y modiwl. Ar ddiwedd y modiwl, bydd pob myfyriwr yn rhoi cyflwyniad llafar byr i gynulleidfa sy'n cynnwys cyd-fyfyrwyr a staff mewn fformat arddull cynhadledd, a bydd gofyn iddynt fod yn rhan o'r gynulleidfa honno ar gyfer myfyrwyr eraill. Mae hyn yn datblygu sgiliau gwrando a deall.

B- hyd at B+ Ateb cynhwysfawr, yn cynnwys yr holl neu bron y cyfan o’r deunydd sy’n berthnasol i’r cwestiwn a dim amherthnasedd, neu ychydig iawn; yr holl ddeunydd a’r cyfeiriadau yn gywir at ei gilydd, heb ddim anghywirdeb na gwallau, gan gyflwyno’r cyfan mewn dadl glir, resymegol a beirniadol, ond sydd â lle i wella ei adeiladwaith a’i gyflwyniad. Ateb sy’n dangos hyfedredd llwyr yn y pwnc.

Da/Boddhaol: Bydd myfyrwyr lefel C- i C+ yn llwyddo'n ddisgrifiadol yn yr holl ddeilliannau dysgu a restrir.

    Demonstrate a high level of skill in structuring and articulating arguments in a problem area.

    Display evidence of original analytical thinking or problem solving, including the ability to analyse legal authorities in contexts relevant to the dissertation topic.

  3. Dangos medrusrwydd wrth gyflwyno canfyddiadau ymchwil ar lafar, gan ddefnyddio cyflwyniad Powerpoint (neu tebyg)

    Demonstrate proficiency in presenting research findings orally, using a Powerpoint presentation (or similar)

  4. Dangos meistrolaeth o systemau cyfeirio priodol.

    Demonstrate mastery of appropriate referencing systems.

One-to-one supervision

4x awr goruchwylio. Dynodir goruchwyliwr traethawd hir i bob myfyriwr fydd yn ei gyfarfod fel rheol mewn sesiwn un-i-un er mwyn goruchwylio'r ymchwil a thrafod cynnydd. Mae'r 4 awr yn cynnwys amser i ddarllen y gwaith a rhoi adborth.

2x sesiwn hanner awr o hyd gyda'r goruchwyliwr yn trafod y cynnig ffurfiannol (proposal). 1x sesiwn cyn llunio'r cynnig i drafod ei gynnwys, ac 1x sesiwn ar ol cyflwyno'r cynnig er mwyn trafod adborth.

Subject specific skills

  • Develop the ability to interpret legal rules and employ techniques of legal reasoning competently and efficiently in order to offer a range of solutions and conclusions to actual or hypothetical complex legal problems, all supported by relevant academic literature, jurisprudence and legislative research. Such solutions will be clearly communicated and presented
  • Develop the ability to analyse complex legal issues, set against the background of the political, social, economic or cultural contexts in which they may arise
  • Develop those skills which are necessary for scholarship and research in legal subjects, namely the ability to identify relevant primary and secondary legal sources and to retrieve accurate legal information using paper and electronic sources
