Overall aims and purpose

Amcan y modiwl hwn yw darparu myfyrwyr â gwybodaeth eang a thrylwyr o’r grefydd Iddewig, ei datblygiad, a’i hymarfer yn y byd modern. Bydd y modiwl yn dechrau ag archwiliad o’r Beibl Hebraeg drwy werthuso cysyniadau canolog y ffydd Iddewig, gan gynnwys y cyfamod a’r mitzvot. Awn ymlaen i drafod rhai digwyddiadau hanesyddol arwyddocaol yn natblygiad y ffydd Iddewig, gan gynnwys chwalu’r Ail Deml ac esblygiad Iddewiaeth y Gwasgariad. Yn y cyswllt hwn, ystyrir detholiad o feddylwyr Iddewig pwysig er mwyn gwerthfawrogi’r modd y bu iddynt ddylanwadu ar natur ac ymarfer Iddewiaeth heddiw, gan gynnwys Moses Maimonides a Moses Mendelssohn. Wedi gwneud hynny, bydd y modiwl yn trafod y modd yr ymarferir Iddewiaeth mewn cymdeithas gyfoes drwy ganolbwyntio ar agweddau penodol, sef defodau tyfiant, deddfau bwyd, gwyliau a defodau crefyddol. Bydd y modiwl hefyd yn astudio’r enwadau amrywiol o fewn Iddewiaeth a’r modd y maent yn ymateb i bynciau penodol, gan gynnwys datblygiad ffeministiaeth Iddewig. Pwrpas y modiwl, felly, yw darparu trosolwg eang o’r hanes a’r credoau sydd wedi siapio Iddewiaeth fodern.
