Disclosure Response Team
The Disclosure Response Team (DRT) is a network of specially trained staff from across Bangor University who can receive disclosures relating to sexual misconduct, violence, harassment and hate incidents.
The DRT exists to ensure that students have access to a safe, supportive and informed response when they wish to discuss an experience that has affected them.
You do not need to make a formal report in order to speak to a member of the DRT.
What Can a DRT Member Help With?
A DRT member can:

listen to your concerns without judgement;
-
provide a safe space to talk about your experiences;

explain the support available within and outside the University;
-
discuss options available to you;
-
explain relevant University policies and procedures;
-
help you understand reporting processes;
-
signpost specialist support services; and
-
answer questions you may have about what happens next.
You remain in control of how much information you choose to share and whether you wish to take any further action.
Who Can Speak to a DRT Member?
Any student can contact a DRT member if they have:
-
experienced sexual misconduct;
-
experienced sexual violence;
-
experienced harassment;
-
experienced a hate incident;
-
witnessed concerning behaviour;
-
supported a friend or fellow student who has experienced one of these behaviours; or
-
been affected by an incident and would like advice or support.
You do not have to be certain that what happened falls within a particular definition before speaking with a DRT member.

What Happens When I Speak to a DRT Member?
The DRT member will listen to your concerns and discuss the support available to you.
They can explain:

what a disclosure is;
-
what support is available;
-
what reporting options may be available;
-
how University procedures work; and
-
where you can access specialist support.
You will not normally be expected to decide immediately whether you wish to make a formal report.
Following the disclosure, the DRT member will share the information with the Student Casework Team. A member of the Student Casework Team will then contact you to ensure that you are aware of any reporting options available to you, should you wish to explore these further.
Making a disclosure does not oblige you to make a formal report or pursue any further action.
Confidentiality
The University will treat disclosures sensitively and respectfully.
Information will only be shared on a need-to-know basis in accordance with University policies, legal obligations and safeguarding responsibilities.
A DRT member can explain confidentiality and information-sharing arrangements in more detail before you decide what information you would like to disclose.
