1.Adaptation/ modification of radiographic projections: appendicular and axial skeleton; Supplementary projections of these regions.
2.Mammography
3.Contrast agent examinations of the digestive system (including biliary, salivary), urinary system, vascular system and female reproductive system
4.Modification of techniques, including exposure factors
5.Requirements of specific patient groups ( demographics, pathologies)
6.Practical applications of US imaging
7.Practical applications of CT scanning
8.Practical applications of radionuclide imaging
9.Practical applications of MRI
10.Pharmacology of contrast agents and their modes of administration
Learning Outcomes
- Analyse techniques identified, relating to dose implications, imaging considerations, examination requirements, resources, patient condition/needs and consideration of other imaging modalities which may be relevant to examination of the area.
- Discuss the needs/modifications for techniques associated with specific patient groups related to patient demographic and disease process (psychological/physical). Undertake and participate in examination of patients in these groups.
- Reflect on clinical practice and undertake the radiographic techniques and utilise resources required for the projections/ examinations outlined in module content.
- Understand the principles and methods for the safe administration of contrast agents
- Understand the relevance of radiographic examinations and suitability of projections to patient condition, clinical history and image quality .
