Amcanion cyffredinol
Bwriad y modiwl hwn yw rhoi dealltwriaeth gadarn i fyfyrwyr Blwyddyn Un o'r ffyrdd y mae troseddau, yng Nghymru a Lloegr, yn dod i sylw'r awdurdodau, sut mae troseddu yn cael ei fesur, sut mae troseddu yn cael ei phlismona, a sut mae pobl a gyhuddir yn cael eu dwyn i dreial ac sut mae'r rhai sy'n euog yn cael eu dedfrydu a'u cosbi.
Mae'r modiwl yn cymryd trosolwg hanesyddol o darddiad cyfraith droseddol, yr heddlu, y llysoedd troseddol a'r carchar, gan archwilio'r newidiadau cymdeithasol, economaidd ac athronyddol sylweddol sydd wedi helpu i lunio'r system cyfiawnder troseddol a chosbi modern. Mae'n archwilio swyddogaethau'r asiantaethau cyfiawnder troseddol, yn archwilio rhai o'r prif syniadau a damcaniaethau ynghylch sut mae'r systemau'n gweithredu ac yn codi cwestiynau beirniadol am y ffyrdd y mae cyfiawnder troseddol yn cael ei wneud a chosb yn cael ei chyflawni.
