Amcanion cyffredinol
Bydd y modiwl hwn yn cyflwyno dealltwriaeth ddamcaniaethol o ddiwylliant poblogaidd cyfoes. Mae'n arfogi myfyrwyr â'r sgiliau sy'n angenrheidiol i ddadansoddi a beirniadu'r damcaniaethau hyn trwy eu cymhwyso i ffurfiau penodol: ffilm, teledu, radio, papurau newydd a chylchgronau, llyfrau, hysbysebu, cerddoriaeth a gemau. Mae'n gofyn i fyfyrwyr ymgysylltu'n feirniadol ag, archwilio a beirniadu ystod o ffurfiau ac arferion diwylliannol torfol.
Bydd y modiwl yn dechrau gydag ymddangosiad print fel cyfrwng poblogaidd yn y 18fed ganrif ac yn datblygu i ystyried sut mae syniadau o ddiwylliant torfol, diwylliant poblogaidd a diwylliannau cyfryngau wedi ffurfio, a sut maent yn cael eu gwahaniaethu oddi wrth syniadau eraill o ddiwylliant. Bydd y modiwl hwn yn darparu ffrâm ddamcaniaethol eang i fyfyrwyr i helpu i ddeall y cyfryngau a diwylliant poblogaidd, ynghyd â chyflwyniad i'r dulliau ymchwil a'r sgiliau astudio sy'n berthnasol i astudio'r maes hwn.
Cynnwys cwrs
Mae Cyflwyniad i Astudio Diwylliant Torfol yn canolbwyntio ar ddatblygiadau ym maes y cyfryngau gan roi sylw i ffurfiau traddodiadol fel ffilm, teledu, radio ac argraffu, ynghyd a cyfryngau digidol mwy diweddar. Hanfod y modiwl hwn yw ysgogi myfyrwyr i ystyried effaith y cyfryngau ar gymdeithas a'r ffyrdd y maent wedi newid neu effeithio ar gymdeithas. Mae hyn yn gofyn i ni ystyried: sut mae'r cyfryngau yn effeithio ar ein ffordd o fyw, sut rydyn ni fel pobl yn rhyngweithio ac yn cyfathrebu, yr hyn rydyn ni'n ei wneud, sut rydyn ni'n profi lleoedd, ac yn ehangach sut mae newidiadau yn y cyfryngau yn gwneud gwahaniaeth yn y byd - er gwell ac er gwaeth.
Mae'r modiwl hwn yn mynd i'r afael â: ystod o ffurfiau cyfryngau, cydberthynas rhwng technoleg a chymdeithas, economi wleidyddol, hunaniaeth a chymuned, cynhyrchu, lledaenu a pherchnogaeth, cyfathrebu a rhyngweithio, preifatrwydd, a goblygiadau ideolegol diwylliant cyfryngol rhwydwaith mewn a oes cyfryngau cyd-greadigol.
